Councilor Jeanne Marie Napolitano was born in Washington, DC. She resides at 34 Malbone Road, Newport, Rhode Island, with her husband, John. They have four children, Tracey, Sean, Michael and Joseph, who also reside in Newport. Councilor Napolitano attended Rhode Island Community College while raising her four children and serving on the Newport City Council in the early 1990's. Councilor Napolitano worked for Newport Financial Associates for over twenty-five years, retiring in 1996. Councilor Napolitano is a former president of New Visions of Newport County, a community action agency. While working there, she merged the East Bay Community Program with New Visions to encompass the entire East Bay region of the state with services such as Head Start and Health & Dental for low income families from Warren to Newport. Councilor Napolitano is a board member of the Newport County Convention and Visitor's Bureau, a member of the Navy League and a council liaison to Naval Affairs. In her capacity as a council liaison to Naval Affairs, Councilor Napolitano attends monthly meetings in areas of concern and interest to both Newport and the Navy. Jeanne is also chairman of the City/School advisory committee. Most recently, Councilor Napolitano served on a committee with the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council (RIPEC) to make recommendations to the Schools and City to reduce future deficits in the Newport School Department. |
