The 2018 General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. 

The deadline to register to vote in the General Election was Sunday, October 7, 2018.

Results of the November 6, 2018 General Election will be available on the Board of Elections website as they are transmitted from the individual polling locations.  The website will update approximately every 10-15 minutes.  Follow along here:

Can't make it to the polls on Election Day?  You may be eligible to cast an Emergency ballot.

The Emergency voting period begins Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 8:30 A.M. and runs through 4:00 P.M. on Monday, November 5, 2018.  Eligible voters may cast an emergency ballot at the Canvassing Office located on the 1st floor of Newport City Hall, 43 Broadway during normal business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., except legal holidays).  The below application must be completed to receive a ballot.  We provide the applications at our office; or you may download the form and bring it with you to expedite the process.  Please note we must receive the original.  We cannot accept an emailed or faxed application.  If you are unable to come to city hall to cast a ballot, please contact our office at (401) 845-5384 OR (401) 845-5386 to discuss alternatives.  Please be advised if you request a ballot to be mailed to you, you must allow sufficient mailing time for our office to receive your application and process it, the Secretary of State's Office to mail your ballot to you, and for you to mail your ballot to the Board of Elections to be received on or before Election Day.  Ballots received at the Board of Elections after 8:00 P.M. on Election Day (November 6, 2018) will not be counted.
