Smart Parking and Getting Around NewportSmart Parking In summer, especially weekends, Newport tends to be congested with traffic. On-street parking is difficult to find. It is highly recommended that visitors park at the Newport Visitors Information Center on America's Cup Boulevard, at the gateway to the City. The Newport Visitors Information Center has parking for 480 cars at very reasonable prices and also serves as the City's primary public transportation hub. The City provides 1/2 hour free parking, to allow visitors to get free maps, brochures for lodging, dining, shopping, attractions and events; and purchase tickets for area attractions and tours (contact: 1-800-326-6030 or www.gonewport.com). The City also operates the Mary Street lot, behind Buskers Restaurant on Thames Street. This facility has a 140 car capacity, has a public restroom and provides residents with up to three hours of free parking once per day. Metered parking operates in the Colonial district from Memorial Day to Halloween.. Smart Cards are available from area vending machines or at the following locations: Newport Visitors Information Center; City Hall (Tax Collector's Office); Newport Mansions Store (Bannister's Wharf); The Music Box; Busker's Irish Pub on Thames Street; Harbormasters office at Perrotti Park. Cliff Walk and Easton's Beach Parking Easton's Beach, located on Memorial Boulevard 1/2 mile east of Bellevue Avenue, includes a West Lot ideal for parking for the Cliff walk, and an additional ____spaces at the East lot, on the other side of the Easton's Beach Rotunda.
