Roadway Improvement Program

The project purpose is to pave roads and reconstruct sidewalks throughout the City.

Contractor: LAL Contruction Company, Inc., Fall River, MA

Status: Construction Ongoing

The Bedlow Avenue neighborhood road and sidewalk reconstruction will continue over the coming weeks.  Construction crews will replace broken sidewalks, make accessibility improvements, and reset existing curb as necessary.  They will move from street to street.  Side street pavement which is in poor condition will be repaved.  Given the large area, work will take several weeks to complete.

City Council approved additional streets to be reconstructed in 2018: Bedlow Avenue, Apthorp Avenue, Curry Avenue, Harvard Avenue, Marlborough Street, West Marlborough Street, Duke Street, Milburn Court, and Ruggles Avenue.

This project includes the rehabilitation/replacement of pavement and replacement of existing sidewalks that are in poor condition plus accessibility improvements.   Generally, once a street has the bottom layer of binder pavement placed, existing sidewalks and curbing rehabilitated, and then the top finish pavement will be placed.  Pavement striping, crosswalks, and stop bars along with signage will be installed at a point after the pavement and sidewalks have been finished.

Generally, parking may be restricted from 7 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday as work progresses. Please look for the temporary "No Parking" signs that will appear in preparation for work to begin.  Please note that residents and business owners will be allowed access to their properties at all times, however, some minor inconveniences may be experienced while contractor is directly in front of property.  Thank you for your patience.
