Engineering Division

The Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works is located on the 3rd floor of City Hall. Under the Director of Public Works, the Engineering Division is responsible for the management of the the infrastructure within City rights-of-way. This includes roadways, sidewalks, curb, and utilities.

The Division is responsible for preparing construction plans, specifications and details; issuing excavation and obstruction permits, field inspection of roadway and sidewalk construction, sanitary and storm sewer projects; maintaining division records, plans and maps; issuing house numbers, reviewing site plans, curb cuts and deeds.

The Division provides engineering services to all City departments. The office contains an extensive archive of roadway and utility data that date back to the late 1800's.
