Water Pollution Control

The City's wastewater treatment, pumping stations, two combined sewer overflow facilities and sanitary sewers, are operated and maintained by the City's contractor United Water, Inc.

If you have a blocked sewer line, contact the City's service provider United Water at (401) 845-2000 to verify whether or not the blockage is in the sanitary sewer in the street.

If the sanitary sewer is flowing unobstructed, the blockage is in the sewer lateral. The property owner is responsible for the sewer lateral from the building to the City's sanitary sewer in the street. A plumber or sewer cleaning company should be contacted to assist you if the blockage is in the lateral.
