It is our goal to maximize the quality of service provided to the general public by timely recording, preserving, and retrieving legal documents.
The Property Records office is responsible for recording all deeds, mortgages, leases, affidavits, condominium declarations, certified copies of documents and other similar instruments. The office is located on the ground floor of City Hall. A clerk is available to record documents from 8:30 to 3:30 Monday thru Friday. Please refer to the Recording Fee Schedule as to the cost of recording documents. Please refer to Recording Requirements to get specifics on document requirements and conveyance tax information.
PLEASE NOTE: In the State of Rhode Island each city and town has its own Property Records office. Property records are not recorded by County in Rhode Island. Recordings are to be sent to the appropriate city or town of the property address.
