Harbor Master

Tasked with the vital task of overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of the Newport Harbor, the Harbor Master operates and maintains cruise ship arrivals, public dinghy docks, transient docks, moorings, and Newport Maritime Center. Located in downtown Newport in Perrotti Park, visitors and residents are welcome to visit the Harbor Master as well as inquire about Harbor-related activities, events, as well as information about where to dock and tie up around Newport.

Annual Dinghy Rack Lottery Set for March 4th

NEWPORT, R.I. -- Kayakers and dinghy owners take note: Now is the time to get your applications in for the Newport Harbor­master’s Office annual dinghy and kayak rack space lottery. 

Spaces, which will be determined through a lottery system, will be selected with a lottery drawing scheduled to be held on March 4, at 9 a.m. at the Harbormaster Office, 39 America’s Cup Ave., with all wel­come to attend.

New Program Aims to Cut Down on Overcrowded Dinghy Docks

With boating season just around the corner, the City’s Harbormaster’s Office is rolling out a new dinghy permitting program designed to help reduce the number of unattended vessels at the King Park Stone Pier. The new stickers will be available through the Harbormaster's Office, which can be found at Perrotti Park on America's Cup Avenue.

City officials have formally closed on a deal to sell the upper two floors of the historic Armory building on Lower Thames Street to the National Sailing Hall of Fame for $1,685,000.
