CITY ADVISING PAST, CURRENT EMPLOYEES OF POTENTIAL DATA LOSS
Privacy Incident Possibly Resulted in Loss of Municipal Employee Information
NEWPORT, R.I. (FRIDAY, JULY 22nd, 2022) – After an exhaustive investigation following the discovery of a suspicious email on one of the City’s internal networks, current and former municipal employees are being notified of a suspected security incident that may have left certain personal information compromised.
​Due to the City’s network architecture, no external customer data is believed to have been impacted by the incident, and all online City functions are operating normally.

NEWPORT WATER CUSTOMERS ADVISED OF DELAYED BILLING
Payment Period, Penalty Dates to be Extended for Affected Billing Cycles
NEWPORT, R.I. (THURSDAY, JULY 7th, 2022) –Newport Water Division customers should expect a delay in receiving their July utility bills after vendor technical issues impacted the ability to issue monthly statements.
As a result, July utility bills will now be due Aug. 31st, 2022. Likewise, the late payment penalty date will also be extended for affected billing cycles.

Changes Coming to Newport’s Bulky Waste Program
Residents Can Now Schedule Collections Directly with Waste Management
NEWPORT, R.I. (TUESDAY, June 28th, 2022) – Newport residents looking to dispose of bulky waste will no longer a need to obtain collection stickers from City Hall.
As part of the City’s new trash contract, beginning July 1st , all requests and payments for bulky waste and white goods collection items can be made directly through the City’s hauling company, Waste Management. Previously, residents were required to obtain a bulky waste sticker from City Hall before calling to make an appointment for pickup.
