Bare Root Tree Planting Program

Applications Open March 4th for the City's annual Bare Root Tree Program held in conjunction with the Newport Tree Conservancy.

About the Program

Newport offers subsidized tree planting programs for as low as $85 to residents interested in sponsoring street trees in the public right-of-way, or setback up to 20′ on private property.

Interested residents may purchase a bare-root tree (approximately 6'-10' tall) to be delivered and planted by Newport’s City Forester. Trees may be planted on the public roadside or on private property within 20' of a public right-of-way.

For an additional $20, residents can purchase a 15-gallon drip irrigation bag that releases water continually for up to 16 hours. The drip bag conserves water, improves tree health and saves time watering.
