ILLUMINATED BOAT PARADE RESCHEDULED

Small Craft Advisory Issued for Narragansett Bay
  
NEWPORT, R.I. (FRIDAY, Nov. 25, 2022) – We’re sorry to report that due to expected gale force winds, tonight’s Illuminated Boat Parade has been rescheduled to Saturday, Dec. 3rd at 6:15 p.m., weather permitting.

The decision to reschedule the popular holiday tradition was made out of an abundance of caution after the National Weather Service issued a Small Craft Advisory for Narragansett Bay beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25th until 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26th.

Newport Fire, Police Set to Escort Santa Through Newport’s Neighborhoods Again this Year

Annual Santa’s Ride to Kick Off Tuesday, Dec. 6th
  
NEWPORT, R.I. (WEDNESDAY, NOV. 23, 2022) – With the holiday season officially upon us, the City of Newport is once again busy preparing for the return of Santa’s nightly rides.

Beginning Tuesday, Dec. 6th, Santa will be escorted by Newport’s Fire and Police Departments for his annual tour of Newport’s neighborhoods.

This year, he’s planning on riding with our first responders through the streets to see the City’s children beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 6th, Thursday December 8th, Tuesday December 13th and finishing up on Thursday December 15th.

Council-Elect to Hold Caucus to Determine Chair, Vice-Chair

Unofficial Vote Scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 15th
  
 NEWPORT, R.I. (THURSDAY, NOV. 10th, 2022) — Newport’s Council-elect will be meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 15th at 6 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Conference Room at Newport City Hall for the purpose of informally electing a Chair and Vice Chair for the 2022-24 Council term.

The Caucus will also be considering appointments for City Solicitor, Probate Judge, and Municipal Court Judge.
The meeting is open to the public and has been posted with the Secretary of State’s website in accordance with Open Meetings Act.
