State to Open New Local Rapid Testing Site
New National Guard, RIDOH Testing Site to Open in Downtown
NEWPORT, R.I. (THURSDAY, JANUARY 21, 2021) – Newport area residents will soon have another option to secure a rapid COVID-19 test.
The City of Newport has been informed that beginning Tuesday, January 26, the Rhode Island Department of Health and Rhode Island National Guard, will be opening a Binax Now Rapid test site at 21 Brown and Howard Wharf in downtown Newport.

City Gearing Up for Special Election
Voter Registration Deadline Approaching
NEWPORT, R.I. (THURSDAY, JANUARY 14, 2021) – Newport Canvassing officials are gearing up for a special Statewide vote on a series of bond referenda scheduled for Tuesday, March 2nd.
Voters who participate in the election will be asked seven referenda questions authorizing the state to borrow up to $400 million through bonds and temporary notes to make capital investments in several different areas. A complete list of the bond questions and the costs associated can be found at the www.CityofNewport.com/NewportVotes.
As in last November's general election, voters will have three options to cast their ballot in the March 2 special election. Voters may choose to cast their ballot by mail, early in-person up to 20 days before the election, or at the polls on Election Day.

Rapid COVID-19 Tests Available at King House
Free Testing Available Thursdays & Fridays
NEWPORT, R.I. -- Area residents interested in receiving a rapid COVID-19 test now have a local option in Newport.
On Thursday, January 7, 2021, the Edward King House Senior Center began serving as a RIDOH/RI National Guard COVID-19 Rapid Test Site.
Free Rapid BinaxNOW Tests will be given on Thursdays and Fridays from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Edward King House located on 35 King Street in Newport for the month of January.
