Newport Public Library Friends Room 300 Spring St. Newport
The Newport Open Space Partnership (NOSP) invites all community members to participate in the third and final public workshop for updating the 2017 Newport Tree, Park, and Open Space Master Plan. The workshop will take place on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 4:30 to 6:00 PM at the Newport Public Library Friends Room, 300 Spring Street.
Over the past several months, NOSP has gathered community input through Workshop #1, the Community Creativity Lab at Pell Elementary School, an online survey with more than 70 responses, and Workshop #2. This feedback has shaped a set of draft recommendations to guide the future of Newport’s parks, trees, and open spaces.
At Workshop #3, participants will:
· Review the refined draft recommendations
· Discuss priorities, potential partnerships, and implementation strategies
· Identify next steps toward adoption of the updated Master Plan
“Newport’s trees, parks, and open spaces are vital to our city’s health, beauty, and quality of life,” said James Galloway, Director of the Newport Open Space Partnership. “This final workshop is the community’s opportunity to ensure the updated plan reflects our shared vision and priorities for the future.”
Participation is open to all members of the public. RSVPs are encouraged by emailing info@newportopenspace.org. Light refreshments will be provided.
The updated Master Plan will provide the City of Newport and its partners with a shared framework for stewarding and enhancing the community’s green spaces for years to come.
