NEWPORT, R.I. – Newport’s Community Police Officers will be teaming up later this summer with the State Department of Environmental Management, the Fort Adams Trust and the Tall Ship Oliver Hazard Perry for a free weeklong summer camp geared towards kids age 10-14.
Campers enrolled in the weeklong program, which runs Monday, Aug. 5th – Friday, Aug. 9th will be treated to a variety of activities including tours of Fort Adams, fishing and sailing experiences, arts and crafts, and an introduction to marine biology. Capping off the week will be a cruise and lunch onboard Rhode Island’s official tall ship, the SSV Oliver Hazard Perry.
Camp will take place at Fort Adams State Park from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., and registration is required.
To sign up, simply stop by the Newport Police Department’s Community Police Unit at 120 Broadway, Newport R.I., Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Campers must be Newport residents to participate and limited space is available.
