NEWPORT FIRE, POLICE SET TO ESCORT SANTA THROUGH NEWPORT’S NEIGHBORHOODS AGAIN THIS YEAR
NEWPORT FIRE, POLICE SET TO ESCORT SANTA THROUGH NEWPORT’S NEIGHBORHOODS AGAIN THIS YEAR
Wednesday, November 27, 2024
Annual Santa’s Ride to Kick Off Tuesday, Dec. 10th
NEWPORT, R.I. (TUESDAY, NOV. 26, 2024) –
With the holiday season officially upon us, the City of Newport is once again busy preparing for the return of Santa’s nightly rides.
Santa is scheduled to meet up with Newport’s Fire and Police Departments beginning Tuesday, Dec. 10
th
for his annual tour of Newport’s neighborhoods.
This year, he’s planning on riding with our first responders through the streets to see the City’s children beginning at 5:30 p.m. each night on Tuesday December 10th, Thursday December 12th, Tuesday December 17th and finishing up on Thursday December 19th.
As always, Santa’s visit is weather dependent. If there is inclement weather on any night he is scheduled, he will do his very best to complete his visit in that area of the City on the following night.
Santa and his Newport Fire & Newport Police escort will leave from Fire Station #2 on Old Fort Road at 5 p.m. each night and will continue until he has completed his tour of the listed area. To track his progress, all are invited to go to the
Newport Fire Department Facebook page
and click on the
Glympse App
nightly Santa tracker
to follow where he is located in town. You
must re-click on this app each night Santa is riding
around because it expires once Santa goes back to the North Pole.
As a reminder, parents are asked to make sure that your children are accompanied by an adult and that they greet Santa from the safety of the sidewalk and do not enter the roadway.
Santa will not be able to stop and pose for photographs along the route because he has to return to the North Pole to prepare for Christmas. Santa is looking forward to seeing all of the City’s children, but does not want any of them getting hurt. To find out when Santa is scheduled to roll through your neighborhood, please visit
www.CityofNewport.com/SantasRide
or follow the Newport Fire Department’s Facebook Page.
