If you are affiliated with a specific political party, you may only vote in that party’s primary. 

Unaffiliated voters can choose to vote in either party’s primary.  Please note that by casting a vote in a party’s primary, you automatically become affiliated with that party.  You may return to an unaffiliated status after casting your vote by updating your voter registration.
 
The deadline to disaffiliate or change parties before voting in the primary is
Sunday, August 6, 2023.
 
Please visit the Voter Information Center at vote.sos.ri.gov to check the accuracy of your voter information.  If you have moved or changed your name, you must update your voter registration.
 
To register to vote or update your voter registration information please visit vote.sos.ri.gov
 OR submit a voter registration form by the deadline(s) indicated above.
 
Voter registration forms are available at city hall during normal business hours or can be downloaded from www.cityofnewport.com/Newportvotes
 
Completed voter registration forms may be placed in the municipal drop box
located on Bull Street by the deadline(s) specified above. 
We cannot accept voter registration forms via email.
