Dinghy Rack Lottery Open to Newport Residents
Applications accepted Feb. 1st- 28th for kayak, dinghy owners
NEWPORT, R.I. (TUESDAY, JAN. 24, 2023) – Kayakers and dinghy owners take note: The Newport Harbormaster’s Office will be accepting applications for dinghy and kayak rack spaces at the King Park and Willow Street dinghy racks beginning Wednesday, Feb. 1st until Feb. 28th.
Spaces will be determined through a lottery system, with a drawing held on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 9 a.m. at the Newport Harbormaster’s Office.

Newport Looking for Police Recruits
Applications Being Accepted Through February 21st
NEWPORT, R.I. (FRIDAY, JANUARY 20, 2023) – The City of Newport is looking for some new recruits to join Newport’s finest.
Applications to join the Newport Police Department are being accepted until Tuesday, Feb. 21st . Both certified police officers and new recruits are being encouraged to apply.
With the oldest Community Policing program in the state, Newport Police Officers have a chance to make a difference on a daily basis while being a part of a dynamic, internationally known community.

City Preparing for Coastal Storm
NEWPORT, R.I. (December 22, 2022) -- The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning and Coastal Flood Warning beginning at 1 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 23rd until 7 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24th.
Please be advised that this is expected to be a high-impact storm with power outages, temporary road and bridge closures, and isolated flooding all possible.
