Newport is proud to boast an experienced, dedicated, and professional lifeguard corps to maintain watch over Easton's Beach throughout the summer season. Lifeguards are on duty from Memorial Day until Labor Day, seven days a week. For information on becoming a lifeguard, visit the City's employment page here.
Personal flotation devices present problems for lifeguards, and we do not to allow them as surf conditions can change at any given time creating a potential unsafe situation.
Moreover, personal flotation devices encourage a false sense of security with one potentially not supervising as closely or carefully as they should.
It is for this reason that the no flotation device is not only a beach rule, but a City Ordinance.
Easton's Beach is very proud to staff all State of RI Surf Certified Lifeguards - There is no ball playing, Frisbee throwing or kite flying allowed on the beach at any time- this is to insure all beach goers comfort.
