Newport Police Adding Patrols for Halloween Weekend
Stepped Up Patrols Aimed at Ensuring Safe, Healthy Halloween
NEWPORT, R.I. (Friday, October 30, 2020) – The Newport Police Department will be adding additional patrols this weekend in an effort to ensure that Newporters are able to enjoy a healthy and safe Halloween weekend.
Like other communities, Newport’s public safety team has been responding to a higher than usual volume of calls over the last several weeks, including several occurrences of vandalism and gun-related incidents which are currently under investigation.
Newport Recreation to Host Election Day Mini Camp
One-Day Camp Aims to Help Parents while Schools are Closed
NEWPORT, R.I. (Monday, October 26, 2020) – With Newport Public Schools closed for the day on Tuesday, Nov. 3rd in observance of Election Day, the Newport Recreation team will be offering a special one-day Mini Camp to provide parents with a safe and supervised option for their child’s day off.
This special Election Day mini camp is open to children in Grades 1-3 and will run from 8:15 a.m. until 3 p.m. at The Hut on Golden Hill Street.
City to Collaborate with Navy, URI on Coastal Threats
Grant to Examine the Effects of Sea Level Rise, Storm Surge in and Around Navy Base, West Side of Aquidneck Island
NEWPORT, R.I. (Thursday, October 15, 2020) – The City of Newport is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $598,000 grant from the Department of Defense, Office of Economic Adjustment, to develop strategies to protect critical resources along the West Side of Aquidneck Island from the anticipated effects of storm surge and sea level rise.
