As part of the City’s trash contract, effective July 1, 2022, residents no longer need to obtain collection stickers from City Hall! All requests and payments for bulky waste and white goods collection items must be made directly through the City’s hauling company, Waste Management by calling
1-800-972-4545
Items will be collected on the first and third Thursday of each month by appointment only, including the following:
Bulky Items - these items include but are not limited to couches, upholstered furniture, wooden furniture, mattresses, etc. The collection cost per item is $31.50
White Goods/Appliances- these items include but are not limited to stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers washers dryers, air conditioners etc. the collection cost per item is $42.00
For more information on whether or not an item is acceptable for collection, please consult with a Waste Management call center agent.
Once full payment has been made and your collection appointment has been scheduled, the agent will supply a reference or ticket number as your confirmation. Items must be curbside by 6 a.m. on the day of your appointment. Missed appointments will result in the need to contact the Waste Management call center to again make payment and schedule another appointment. No refunds will be given unless cancellation of a scheduled appointment is made by contacting the Waste Management Call Center with your confirmation number by noon the day before the scheduled collection. Please keep in mind that leaving items curbside for longer than 24 hours may result in a fine per City ordinance.

Rhode Island Resource Recovery (RIRRC) has events scheduled throughout the State beginning on March 25th and continuing through December 2nd. Please check the RIRRC website for the most up-to-date information.

RESIDENTIAL YARD WASTE
YARD WASTE COLLECTIONS occur on your normal scheduled collection day (except where noted one day delay for holiday) and are scheduled: one week in January, one week in March, four weeks in April, every other week from May through October, three weeks in November and one week in December. Waste Management will collect leaves, grass clippings and branches less than four inches in diameter (and no more than three feet in length) placed either in paper bags, tied in bundles or in 32-gallon garbage cans (no Yard Waste Only sticker required). Any yard waste material left in plastic bags will be left behind on the curbside. Please see above link for the 2023 Holiday and Yard Waste Calendar.
For disposal of larger tree branches, brush or stumps that do not qualify for the Yard Waste Collection program, residential property owners may bring excess yard waste and brush to the Waste Management Transfer Station. Disposal of excess and oversized yard waste at the transfer station is not counted as one of the two free dumps offered to residential property owners and may be done without fees. Property owners must be with the load and provide government issued photo ID and proof of residency (tax bill or water bill). NO EXCEPTIONS.
If you are unable to transport the materials yourself, you may contract with a private contractor. However, to avoid the disposal fees, the property owner must be present with the load and present government issued photo id and proof of residency (copy of tax bill or water bill).
