Operating under a Council-Manager form of government, the City Manager is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of Newport. From public safety and budget planning, to planning the preservation and development of the city, the City Manager maintains high-quality services offered to residents and visitors alike.

As a direct service supplier the City of Newport uses a skilled work force and proven service industry technology to provide services, and protect the City's nationally significant natural and historic resources. To remain successful Newport will expand its hospitality, military education, and technology-based economy while protecting its residential desirability.
