City Clerk

Our office serves a number of important roles within the community, including acting as the recorder of deeds, the registrar of births, marriages, civil unions and deaths, the clerk of the probate court, and the clerk of the City Council. Along with these pivotal roles,we keep a record of all council meetings and processes all business registrations and licenses in accordance with established City ordinances or state law.

Property Records

The Property Records office is responsible for recording all deeds, mortgages, leases, affidavits, condominium declarations, certified copies of documents and other similar instruments.  
 

Marriage Licenses

Effective June 8, 2020 Marriage Licenses will be granted by appointment only. Please click here to schedule an appointment 

If you're planning on getting married in Newport, be sure to visit us to apply for a marriage license before you say "I do"

Vital Records

The City Clerk's office is responsible for maintaining and filing marriage, birth, and death certificates. Make your request online or in person. 
 

Probate Court

Probate Court has jurisdiction over the probate of wills;  appointment of custodians; the adoption of persons 18 years of age or older; change of name, and other matters
