Public Services

We ensure that Newport's streets, sidewalks, and public spaces are safe, clean, and welcoming. We do that through a number of essential services designed to promote and maintain our quality of life such as keeping our streets and pedestrian corridors; caring for our parks and open space; reducing and collecting household waste; and promoting recreational activities and facilities.

Infrastructure Improvements

Living in a community as historic as Newport requires that we pay extra attention to our infrastructure. Our team works throughout the year to maintain and improve our roads, sidewalks, and municipal buildings.

Beach & Recreation

We pride ourselves on our quality of life, and our Beach & Recreation staff is dedicated to helping Newporters enjoy our natural environment and build community through recreational activities.

Trees, Parks & Open Space

Newport boasts some of the most beautiful outdoor spaces anywhere on the East Coast. We're responsible for maintaining, and enhancing those spaces for our residents, visitors, and generations to come.

Trash & Recycling

We know that we live in a special place and we're committed to caring for our environment. Our mission is to make Newport both Clean and Green. We do this through a strategy of waste collection, reduction, and recycling.

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life and protect the public interest through sound environmental policies, enforcing codes and ordinances, and provide efficient public services in the areas of solid waste management, recycling, and public works.

Easton's Beach Repair Information

Easton's Beach Repair Information

As part of our ongoing efforts to rejuvinate the Easton's Beach complex, we've recently awarded a contract to demolish the structures that house the Easton's Beach Snack Bar and Carousel. While the Rotunda and Bath Houses will remain, because of demolition, bath house passes will NOT be available this season, with hopes to bring them back in 2025.

In the meantime, beachgoers this coming season will be able to enjoy a number of amenities, including food trucks, fully accessible restrooms, children's playground, and more.

The demolition follows a community meeting held in October of 2022 in which the condition of the beach and a potential vision for the future was discussed with Councilors.
