VICTORY DAY HOLIDAY, MONDAY, AUGUST 10, 2020
TRANSFER STATION CLOSED – COLLECTION DELAYS
The transfer station is closed on Monday, August 10, 2020 in observance of the RI Victory Day holiday. As a result, there is a one-day collection delay for the week of August 10 for all trash and recycling collections. City offices are also closed for the day. Please plan your visits accordingly.
YARD WASTE COLLECTION
DISPOSAL OF LARGER TREE LIMBS, STUMPS or BRUSH
YARD WASTE COLLECTIONS will occur on the weeks of July 20th, August 3rd, and August 17th. Collections occur on your normal scheduled collection day (except where noted one day delay for holiday) and are scheduled every other week from May through November. Waste Management will collect leaves, grass clippings and branches less than four inches in diameter (and no more than three feet in length) placed either in paper bags, tied in bundles or in 32 gallon garbage cans (no Yard Waste Only sticker needed). Any yard waste material left in plastic bags will be left behind on the curbside. Please see link for the 2020 Holiday and Yard Waste Calendar.
For disposal of larger tree branches, brush or stumps that do not qualify for the Yard Waste Collection program, residential property owners may bring excess yard waste and brush to the Waste Management Transfer Station. Disposal of excess and oversized yard waste at the transfer station is not counted as one of the two free dumps offered to residential property owners and may be done without fees. Property owners must be with the load and provide government issued photo ID and proof of residency (tax bill or water bill). NO EXCEPTIONS.
If you are unable to transport the materials yourself, you may contract with a private contractor. However, to avoid the disposal fees, the property owner must be present with the load and present government issued photo id and proof of residency (copy of tax bill or water bill).
Please be advised that the work of clearing trees from yesterday’s flash flood is on-going. Disposal and pick-up of branches from City-owned trees may take several weeks to complete. Trees on privately owned property should be disposed of in the above manner.
