SPRING RECYCLING DAY - Saturday, April 26, 2025 FALL RECYCLING DAY - Saturday, November 8, 2025
Both events held from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at Easton’s Beach, 175 Memorial Boulevard, Newport, RI.
The City of Newport will be hosting Recycling Day Events on Saturday, April 26th and Saturday, November 8th from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at Easton's Beach, 175 Memorial Boulevard, Newport, RI. These events provide opportunities for City of Newport residents to recycle the “harder to recycle” items. The events will include the following recycling opportunities for CITY OF NEWPORT RESIDENTS ONLY: E-Waste, Document Shredding, Rigid Plastic, Metal, Clothing/Textiles, Cardboard and Cooking Oil. There will also be an opportunity for Newport residents to take advantage of a bulky waste amnesty (limit two bulky waste items per household). What will NOT be accepted at these events:
No Household Hazardous Waste will be accepted at this event. RIRRC will hold the Eco-Depot event for the collection of household hazardous waste in Newport on Saturday, October 18th at Easton’s Beach from 8 am to 12 noon. No Styrofoam will be accepted at this event. Please reuse it or place bagged Styrofoam in your regular household trash.
No Mattresses will be accepted at this event. Newport residents are eligible to participate in the Mattress Recycling Program. Mattresses that are clean, dry and free of infestation may be brought to the Waste Management Transfer Station located at 65 Halsey Street, (401) 847-0230 (up to 3 pieces per visit).
No Plastic bags will be accepted at this event. Please reuse them or bring your plastic grocery bags and other types of clean & dry plastic film to local retailers for inclusion in their recycling program.
Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated around the world on April 22nd. Clean-up and awareness events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970.
Newport’s Earth Day Celebration is typically held during a weekend near Earth Day. Local volunteer groups plan and organize clean-ups all over the city and Clean City is able to provide pick up of bags collected in pre-arranged locations on a pre-determined day.
