PARKING SEASON UNDERWAY

Metered & Residential Parking Programs Return

NEWPORT, R.I. (TUESDAY, MAY 20, 2025) – The City of Newport’s paid parking and residential sticker programs are in effect with new benefits for Newport residents.

This year, Newport residential parking pass holders will be entitled to three free hours of parking in every metered space across the City, as well as the Mary Street Parking Lot.  Parking at Easton’s Beach will also be free for Newport residents throughout the summer with no need to purchase a separate parking pass.

To qualify for three free hours of street parking, residents are asked to enter their registration plate number in either the pay station or the Passport app.

NEWPORT, R.I. (MONDAY, APRIL 28, 2025) – As construction on the new Rogers High School nears completion, the City of Newport is inviting the community to sponsor commemorative benches that will be installed at the school's main entrances. 
 

SPRING WATER MAIN FLUSHING SET TO BEGIN

Overnight Water Main Flushing Scheduled to Run through May 8th

NEWPORT, R.I. (WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23, 2025) - The Newport Water Division will begin its annual Spring water main flushing program throughout Newport on Sunday, April 27. This essential maintenance is part of the Division’s continued efforts to maintain high water quality throughout the distribution system.

Flushing will occur in designated areas during the overnight hours of 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. and signs will be posted in each area before flushing begins.

Naval Station Newport RAB Meeting

You can meet with fellow citizens and representatives from the Navy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, and you can help plan studies and cleanups of contaminated sites.
