City Concludes Investigation into Privacy Incident
  
NEWPORT, R.I. (MONDAY, AUGUST 15h, 2022) – The City of Newport announced today that it has concluded the investigation of a previously announced security incident.  

As previously announced, on June 9, 2022, the City identified unusual network activity that caused certain systems in its network to become unavailable. The City immediately took steps to secure its network and launch an investigation with the assistance of a cybersecurity firm. The City also notified law enforcement and worked to support its investigation.
 

City to Conduct Smoke Testing on North End Sewer Lines

Inspections Slated for Week of August 22nd
  
NEWPORT, R.I. (MONDAY, AUGUST 15h, 2022) – Residents in portions of Newport’s North End neighborhood are being advised that contractors from Wright-Pierce, working on behalf of the City of Newport, will be conducting smoke testing in sewer lines during the week of August 22, 2022.

While most of the work will be performed on public property, crews may need to walk across residential areas located within the public right-of-way as part of the inspection process.

Crews will be going to door-to-door in advance of the testing with informational flyers describing the process and providing important contact information.

​PURSUANT TO CHAPTER § 17-10-5 OF THE RI GENERAL LAWS, THE NEWPORT CANVASSING AUTHORITY SHALL MEET AT THE TIME, DATE, AND LOCATION LISTED BELOW FOR THE PURPOSE OF CANVASSING THE PRELIMINARY LISTS AND HEARING OBJECTIONS TO THE INCLUSION OR OMISSION OF ANY PERSON AS A REGISTERED VOTER, AND IT SHALL AT THAT TIME MAKE A FINAL CANVASS AND CORRECTION OF THE REGISTRATION FILES.
